Meet The Owner
Welcome to the Natural Stone Collective. My name is Donald “Jason” Reinhold. I’m focused on upholding the genuine essence of historical craftsmanship by rescuing and repurposing stone masterpieces that embody the labor and artistry of past eras. My dedication lies in salvaging the rich heritage embedded in these materials, particularly through stonework installations and landscape design. Witnessing the tragic loss of American heritage in discarded stone structures fuels my commitment to preserving this legacy.
I draw inspiration from the European artisans who migrated during the Industrial Revolution, mirroring their dedication to craftsmanship. Much of my work involves salvaging hand-cut stone from historic buildings like churches, chapels, and pre-1900 mansions. I meticulously quarry fossilized fieldstone and limestone, blending reclaimed materials with fresh ones for expansive projects.
The Ohio River’s historical significance in trade and material transport resonates deeply with me. It’s a treasure trove of historical essence that I aim to capture and repurpose in my work. From salvaging bricks in deconstruction projects to preserving intricately hand-carved stone door surrounds and arches, I strive to ensure that future generations can appreciate the essence of past craftsmanship.
My mission extends beyond salvaging; it’s about reclaiming the architectural DNA woven into America’s stone structures. I quarry and procure stone on a national scale, offering expertise in stone projects. My consulting services cater to clients who prefer a specialized approach to ensure optimal results.
I have always loved going into quarries to the quarry floor and selecting stone to be used in projects. Salvaging and deconstructing the meticulous stonework of past artisans is a passion of mine. I deeply respect the labor and dedication poured into shaping these stones, it’s something I couldn’t bear to see discarded.
In my career journey, I’ve collected stones from quarries and structures like churches, chapels, and mansions. Now, I’m on the lookout for architects and landscape designers who can integrate these stones into their projects. With 30,000 face feet of dressed rubble and freshly quarried materials, I envision crafting a stone compound unlike any other in America. To bring this vision to life, I seek skilled stone masons who can artfully install these stones. Having the materials and designs is crucial, but it’s the mastery of these craftsmen that truly orchestrates the beauty, akin to the harmony in a symphony.
This stonework, with its exceptional materials, design, and installation, is an art form. However, I lament that this art seems to be losing its essence in America by the day. Thus, I’m in search of discerning customers and skilled masons—individuals who value quality over quantity, those who appreciate and understand the true artistry behind this craft.
